BIOGRAPHY

DEREK WILSON, an Ottawa Valley fiddler has been entertaining audiences with his Old Tyme style of
Canadian fiddling since the age of ten years and received his first award at the age of eleven.  His love of
fiddle music and his determination to spread traditional music has credited him over one hundred and
forty five awards while performing at various fiddle contests and folk festivals throughout Ontario, Quebec,
and the Maritimes.  Derek has composed 125 of his own tunes and plays over 3000 in total.

In the same fashion as the nationally renowned fiddler Don Messer, Derek traveled to Charlottetown,
Prince Edward Island in 1993 through to 1997 to pursue his career as a self employed music teacher and
performer.  He is now living back in the Ottawa Valley.  His appearances included television shows such
as "Music of the Isles", "On the Road Again with Wayne Ronstad" and several times on radio stations
CBC Radio Ottawa and Charlottetown, P.E.I, CHSJ Saint John, New Brunswick, CJRW Summerside
P.E.I and many more throughout Atlantic Canada.  His music can be heard on many other radio stations
such as, CJET Smiths Falls, Ontario in the valley and on many other tape decks across the country.

Wilson owns a recording, production and manufacturing company.  The studio has produced many great works including two of Derek's own albums, "Redmud Hoedown", "Spud Diggin' Ground" and just released Canada East to West.  After many years Derek has just started releasing his own tunes in music books.  Volume 1 is now available with a total of 50 Old Tyme Canadian Tunes.  Book 2 will be available near the end of the summer and a third book in time for Christmas 2006.  Visit our ORDER PAGE  to purchase your copy today.
